The Contractor’s Commitment to Sustainable Building Practices is an example of a program that grew out of work done by the Sustainable Construction Leaders Network.

Following four years of successful pilots with two dozen leading general contractors, it informed the development of new credits in LEEDv5 and is frequently referenced in the ESG reporting of sustainable construction leaders.

It’s now under the auspices of USGBC California, who will continue its further growth and development.

If I had to choose one word to describe why someone might be a Peer Network member, it would be: Connection. It captures the essence of sharing insights, learning from others, building relationships, and advancing collective goals.

While the benefits of being a part of the Peer Networks are incalculable, the greatest value I get is knowing that together we’re making a difference.

If I didn’t have this network, I would be missing out on collaborating with, listening to, and gleaning best practices from others who are facing the same challenges and opportunities I face on a day-to-day basis.

The one thing I value most about being a part of the peer networks is being able to just email or text my peers and get their thoughts. The more we share and implement consistently, the greater our collective impact will be.

— Angi Rivera, AIA, LEED Fellow, Director of Sustainability, Sellen Construction
Max Driscoll, Vice President, Sustainability, Construction Management, AECOM

Sustainable Construction Leaders is the most valuable of the various sustainability and construction groups I participate in because of the quality of communication and the environment of trust that allows us to share freely in support of each other’s success.
